Political Role
The Platform for Intercultural Europe is recognized by the European Commission as a Structured Dialogue Platform in the field of cultural policy and assumes this role fully.
Structured Dialogue in the field of culture policy was established by the “European agenda for culture in a globalising world” of December 2007.
The Platform for Intercultural Europe is also formally involved in Structured Dialogue through the EU Integration Forum. The European Integration Forum was called into being by the Communication 'A Common Agenda for Integration: Framework for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals in the European Union' of September 2005.
The Platform for Intercultural Europe is in principle open to engaging with the intercultural policy work of other international organisations, e.g. Council of Europe, Alliance of Civilisations, but does currently not have the capacity to do so.
